Grave of The Flower Knight

Inspired by the movie “The Green Knight”, Irish burial mounds, and the fantastical allure of fey folklore, I wanted to make a grave dedicated to “The Flower Knight”. The knight was working under a lord in a local village. After seeing how the local fey were being driven out from their forests to use their trees for logging and construction, the Flower Knight swore loyalty to the Royal Fey court. Blessed with long life for his loyalty, he lived well beyond human age. Eventually though, his time came and the fey immortalized him in his own grave on an island where he can rest. On his island is the hammer he would use to protect the fey and the harp he would play in times of leisure. On his coffin is the visage of his fey wife sculpted on the lid.

After enough time a giant sunflower grew from his body, its growth accelerated by the strength of his magic. It burst through the ceiling where it basks in the sunlight. Where one life ends, another life begins anew.

I modeled the original meshes in 3DSMax, sculpted the high poly models in Zbrush, and ported everything to Unreal Engine 5. You can find my design artbook for this project here.
